How To Win A Golf Tournement

Author: Frederick Palmer

Planning a golf tournament? Here are some tips to help you.

1. Select a good golf course and facilities that can accommodate all the needs that you have and make sure that their staff employees are likewise accommodating. Check with the employees and ensure that you tell them what you need and what you want to happen, especially if you plan on having an awards or some sort of ceremonies after the tournament. This is also the time you should think of the number of golfers that you would allow to compete. You may want to check the staff recommendations, especially if they have a record of golf tournaments in their place.

2. It might be great if you make an information brochure explaining and advertising the tournament in a clear and concise manner, with a format that is easy and relaxing to read. Put in a concise registration form along with the brochure.

3. You should not forget about getting tournament sponsors. Order early the course signage. It might take some time in getting all the logos you need for printing. Be sure that the tournament sponsors you got have first approved the publication materials before taking them for printing. Many tournament sponsors have very strict specifications about the use of their logos and expect you to follow the guidelines that they have.

4. Consider the goodie bags or giveaways in the tournament. You could give shirts, tees, hats, balls, among others. You could also keep a supply of sunscreen packets and bottled water. If you are giving awards, you should order the trophies early.

5. You can buy a database (or design if you can do one) for the registration process in helping you track the players you have as well as the team pairings.

6. Make sure that the golf staff is recognized easily. They should be easily distinguished with a special hat or golf shirt.

7. Do a short checklist of the things you need to finish or accomplish in preparation for your tournament. Try to do everything as early as possible.

8. Inform the players of the rules and requirements of the system. Make sure that they do have the necessary equipment or tools for play, such as score cards, balls, tees, among others.

9. Make sure that there is proper and enough nourishment at the tournament. There should be enough food and drinks available in the various points around and on the course.

10. Prepare for worst-case scenarios like course problems, injuries, etc.

Now Everyone can Afford to Buy New Golf Clubs

Author: David Laible

The high price of golf clubs has kept many weekend hackers from taking advantage of the new technologies in golf equipment. TourGolfClubs has changed that with the introduction of a line of golf clubs that rivals the name brands in features and performance, but at a fraction of the price.

In the past the introductions of the golf clubs with new game improving technologies have been left to the wealthy. Most golfers can't afford to spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars to upgrade their old equipment. The technological advancement of new metals has allowed many golf club manufacturers to improve club performance by a creating a thinner club face and redistributing the weight of the golf club. The repositioning of the weight lowers the center of gravity of the golf club which provides lower spin rates and greater distance. These new designs have also allowed golf club manufacturers to increase the sweet spot of the clubs providing a more forgiving and consistent golf shot.

The top golf club manufacturers, like Ping, Taylormade, Callaway and Titliest have all recently retooled their entire line of clubs to take advantage of these new technologies. Golfers that purchased golf clubs 4 plus years ago are finding that they are at a disadvantage compared to many golfers using these newer golf clubs.

TourGolfClubs.com has provided hope to many of these golfers by offering an inexpensive line of golf clubs that uses these new technologies. Most golf clubs offered by TourGolfClubs are more the seventy five percent less expensive then the comparable name brand club. Every product TourGolfClubs makes feature the game improvement technologies and design concepts which will make you a better golfer - cavity back irons, perimeter weighting, low center of gravity. The only difference many of you will see in their golf clubs and the name brand ones are the price.

Simple Golf Tip To Help You Become A Better Putter

Author: Stan Thomas

This putting tip was recommended to me not to long ago, and I wanted to pass it along. It should help you develop a sense of 'feel' with your putts.

Find a level practice green. Line up several golf balls about twenty feet or so from the fringe of the green.

Line up over the first ball and take your regular putting stroke, putting toward the fringe. Do not look up at your shot immediately after impact. Instead keep your head down and guess where the putt will stop. Will it be long? Short? Perfect?

After you've made your guess based on what you 'feel', look up and watch exactly where the golf ball comes to a stop compared to your estimate. Putt through all your practice balls in the same manner.

This exercise separates your sense of sight from your sense of touch. Therefore, you can understand why it's important to make your guess of where the ball will land before you look up and get the feedback of your sight.

After making your guess look up and follow the path of your putt, watching it come to a complete stop. This will give your brain added feedback and accelerate the process of developing the proper 'feel' to putting. See how quickly your guesses become accurate and all your putts begin finishing in the same position, close to the fringe of the green.

A additional benefit to this simple drill is that will teach you to keep your head down and still while putting. As fundamental as it sounds, keeping a still head is imperative to mastering your putting stroke.

I also like this drill because you aren't putting to a specific target - a golf hole. Instead, you're putting to a general area. This is a great muscle memory technique that will allow your putting stroke to become a lot smoother and more consistent. Shooting to an area rather than a target should allow you to learn to putt from a more relaxed position, ridding tension from your putts. Tension is, of course, the death nil to any putt.

Once you've experimented with this exercise on a flat surface, try it on others as well: downhill, uphill, and undulating. It shouldn't take you long to develop a feel for whatever putting situation that presents itself on the golf course.

How to maintain your golf cart's batteries

Author: Ken MacKenzie

Serious, even dangerous threats can eventuate by improperly maintaining your golf cart's batteries. A lack of knowledge about basic golf cart battery maintenance can lead to all kinds of problems. Some users assume that the batteries that operate their golf carts are maintenance-free.

However, the key to achieving optimum performance and long life is a solid golf cart battery maintenance program. It is recommended that you obtain the following equipment for use in a Golf Cart Battery Maintenance Program

A wrench; distilled water; a voltmeter (an instrument used for measuring the voltage between two points in an electric circuit); a hydrometer (a tool used to measure the specific gravity of the electrolyte solution); a post cleaner; some baking soda; petroleum jelly and possibly the most of all - goggles and gloves.Always wear protective clothing, acid proof gloves and goggles when handling lead acid batteries and remove all jewellery. It's important to have lots of water and baking soda nearby as this will neutralise any acid spills from battery refilling and prevent further corrosive damage. Remember, the electrolyte is a solution of acid and water, so skin contact should be avoided and, do not smoke near batteries and never add acid to a battery.

Golf carts are typically powered by six lead-acid batteries mounted beneath the front seat.

First of all, examine the outside appearance of the batteries. You should look for cracks in the container and the top of the battery. Posts and connections should be free of dirt, fluids and corrosion. You should replace any damaged batteries. Check that all vent caps are tight. Then clean the battery top with a cloth or brush and a solution of baking soda and water ensuring that any cleaning solution or any other foreign matter does not get inside the battery. Then rinse with clean water and dry with a clean cloth. Solvents or spray cleaners should not be used. Then clean the battery terminals and the inside of the cable clamps with a post and clamp cleaner. Reconnect the clamps to the terminals and thinly coat them with petroleum jelly. Always keep the area around the batteries clean and dry.Water should only be added after fully

charging the golf cart battery Prior to charging, there should be enough water to cover the plates.

If the battery has been discharged (partially or fully), the water level should be above the plates. Some important things to remember are: Do not allow plates to be exposed to air and do not fill the water all the way up to the cap. Do not use water with a high mineral content. You should use only distilled or deionised water. Check water levels in each cell of each battery weekly to ensure that the leaded plates in the battery are submerged in liquid. Don't fill the cell all the way up -- add just enough water to cover the plates.

Lastly, please follow the manufacturer's instructions for maintaining your golf cart's batteries

A Whiter Shade Of Playing Bad Golf | When The Golf Swing No Longer Matters

Author: Stan Thomas

Don't let a bad start to a round of golf define your whole day on the course.

Too often when we get off to a rocky start the rest of our round is shot. We become our own worst enemy and create a doomful sense of self-fulfilling prophecy.

But does one hole define another? If one hole didn't go as planned, does that necessarily mean more will follow?

Chances are there will a domino effect, and the whole round will come cascading down. But, does it have to be that way?

Have you struggled through a round, determined to get control of all that's gone bad, and then suddenly at some point said, ""Ah, to hell with it. I'm just going to shoot my shots and have some fun.""

If you're like me, letting go of this attempted form of control can have a liberating effect on your round of golf. Not only are you enjoying yourself more, but you play better golf as well. Odd, isn't it? But it happens.

We are so result driven that we often forget to learn. We have in our minds the perfect golf swing and an idea of the perfect result it should achieve. When that doesn't happen the negative inner dialogue begins. With that comes a lot of trouble.

Personally speaking, I used to one of those golfers that was score and result driven. That was my priority while playing golf. And, I was miserable playing, but I was also determined I was going to better. I was going to achieve that place in my mind of being a 'good' golfer. That's how I was defining my time on the course.

Once after a particularly rotten day on the course I came home cursing and throwing my equipment into the garage.

My son was almost four years old at the time was playing in the yard and rushed to see what all the commotion was about.

""Are you mad, Daddy?"" he asked.

""Yeah, I played golf today, and I didn't do very well.""

He looked at me quizzically.

""Did you have fun?""

I laughed.

""Nope. Not today, I sure didn't.""

More quizzical looks came my way.

""Daddy, if you don't fun, why do you play?""

That simple question from a four-year-old boy stuck with me a long time.

Why was I playing? I had reached a plateau, and I wasn't getting any better. Playing golf and become a practice in frustration.

It was then I made a commitment to attempt to enjoy my time on the course more or to quit and do something else with my time.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, I'd strongly recommend you do the same. Stop worrying so much about your score or the result you want. Make it your goal to enjoy your time on the course more, to learn no matter what transpires.

You just might be surprised at all that begins to unfold, both on the golf course and inside of you.---

Callaway FTI - Probably the Best Golf Driver in the World

Author: alan payne

The Callaway FTI can be used to a great advantage if you finally want to beat your golfing partners out on the fairway.

So What makes the Callaway FTI so special?

Firstly the Callaway FTI is made from a carbon composite which is extremely light weight but also extremely strong. This weight advantage has been used in production and testing to overall enhance the Callaway FTI's performance.

The Callaway FTI has been proven to hit balls further than any other driver on the market today which makes this driver your new best friend.

Callaway FTI includes a titanium cup face which helps the user increase golf ball speed from contact shots from the face of head.

To no surprise the Callaway FTI has been banned in use by professional golfers throughout the world at various golfing tournaments as using this driver gives the pro an unfair advantage against their competition.

Callaway featured heavily in the PGA tours in 1995 and Callaway golf drivers were No.1 in the tournament. This shot Callaway to become the largest manufacturer of golf clubs outselling its nearest rivals with 2003 became number one in the golf club market.

The Callaway FTI is a massive leap in golf club technology and redesign favoring any golfer. With the Callaway FTI promotions launched, record levels of pre orders were placed before the official launch date.

The Callaway FTI has been redesigned using a different shaped, square driver head which proven in testing to be a breakthrough in golf club performance. This Callaway FTI is weighted differently from all other clubs which distributes the weight to the outside edges of the head which helps prevent the club head to twist during shots. Any golfer will know that this is extremely important to prevent this if possible so the ball can be hit cleanly and on target.

As a golfing enthusiast, I decided to make a new website designed purely around the amazing Callaway FTI driver, if you would like to read more about the Callaway FTI, please visit the site today by clicking on this link below!

Can Simple Breathing Improve Your Golf Swing?

Author: Stan Thomas

This may sound like the most basic golf tip of all, but when you want to improve your golf swing, don't forget to breathe.

Don't run off. I'll explain.

Think of the last time you were in trouble on the golf course. Remember what it was like. This most likely is going to cause tension in your body. And, with that tension your breathing is going to be restricted.

Take a few quick deep breaths right now. Come on. Just do it, for crying out loud.

Now think back to that tension-filled moment on the golf course I asked you to remember above. Does it feel different? When I do this simple exercise, it does. Simply because tension and breathing properly are not compatible partners.

Let's take the exercise a step further. Stand up in your golfing stance; legs spread shoulder width a part. Breathe in through your nose, evenly and fully. Breathe the air all the way in and down, fully expanding your lungs until you comfortably can't handle anymore. Hold it there momentarily and easily. Now, exhale, gently blowing the air out through the mouth.

You should feel your upper torso expand and relax; your arms should hang down now a bit more freely than before. You think this might be good for your golf swing?

I strongly recommend making deep breathing a part of your routine before every golf shot you attempt. This is should be the starting point for any action you have on the golf course.

Do this before every golf swing you attempt:

1) Position yourself behind the golf ball a comfortable distance; ten feet should suffice.

2) See your target line clearly and see, in the mind, your golf shot perfectly executed.

3) Comfortably take a full and deep breath, having the air gently fill your lungs. Hold it for a moment and then gently blow it out through the mouth. I find pursing my lips on the exhale helps with a full exhalation.

4) When this simple routine is accomplished, you are then ready to approach your golf ball. Do this and notice how relaxed you are as you stand over your shot.

In essence you're playing a little trick on the unconscious mind. Whereas the body and mind was once filled with tension and the breathing was restricted, now the breathing is full and the new message to all points of your being is ""no more trouble here"".

I can't stress how much I recommend this simple exercise. Put it in your golf bag and use it like you would any other golfing tool. You won't be disappointed.

At first I applied this technique when faced with any situation that I felt was stressful while playing golf. Later I began using it before every golf swing I was attempting. Now, it has spilled over, and I use in my daily routine away from golf. I hope you'll try it as well.---

Buying A Golf Swing Meter To Help Your Game

Author: Wade Robins

A golf swing meter can help you keep your swing consistent and increase your distance. It takes the guesswork out of measuring your swing speed. It's not always easy to tell by just eyeballing your swing whether you're hitting it the same each time or not.

If you're looking to buy a golf swing meter, there are several out there to choose from. You can get a swing meter that either attaches to your club, or sits in front of the ball and measures ball speed by radar.

If you are getting one that attaches to the club, make sure that it is light and not in your way. Different models attach in different ways. Try a few swings in the shop to see how it feels before you take it home.

The radar swing meters are usually a little pricier, but they may be better for you if you don't want to deal with having it attached to your club.

Here are some of the most popular golf swing meter devices on the market.

- Golf Hook/Slice Talking Swing Meter

Yes, this one talks to you. It attaches to your golf club and has a little speaker on the top that says, ""Hook"", ""Slice,"" or if you hit a good one, ""Nice Shot!""

The Golf Hook/Slice Talking Swing Meter is light and compact, and attaches easily to your club. It sits right above the club, and is a little bit smaller than the club itself. It takes 3-Button Cell Batteries.

The talking meter is no gimmick. It's fun to hear the voice call your shot, but the real reason for it is that it gives you instant feedback. You don't have to stop and check the little display. Right after your shot, the Meter lets you know how you did.

The Golf Hook/Slice Talking Swing Meter costs around $20 new.

- The Dyna Flex Digital Speed Meter

This speed meter is one of the most accurate and complex, offering various features for users, but it must be used with the Dyna Flex Powerball Wrist Exerciser. The Dyna Flex Powerball attaches to your club, and the tiny meter is easily attachable to the Powerball.

This device gives you an accurate reading of the speed of your swings, and it also keeps track of your highest speed. It measures the gyro speed, so it gives you an accurate reading. It can also calculate the maximum RPM for your gyro speed.

The Dyna Flex Digital Speed Meter sells for about $15, but you also have to buy the Dyna Flex Powerball Wrist Exerciser separately.

- Swing Mate Speedmeter

The Swing Mate Speedmeter is nice because you don't have to attach it to your golf club. It uses a radar to measure your club speed without having to be attached. It's small and takes a simple 9-vold battery.

This device shows you your speed on a big, easy-to-read display screen. It also has a memory function that allows you to keep track of your last ten swings, your average speed and which clubs you've been using.

Some swing meters can be pretty clumsy with their club attachments, and that might keep you from getting an accurate reading. Because the Swing Mate Speedmeter uses radar technology, you don't have to attach it to your club.

The Swing Mate Speedmeter retails for about $110.

A golf swing meter is an important training tool, helping golfers to determine and assess their swing speed. A good look at your swing speed can help you build accuracy and consistency, and improve your game.

The Anatomy of Golf

Author: Steven Cancel

Have you ever been invited to play a round of golf, and realized when you got there, you have no idea what you are suppose to do? Well, this will help you know your surroundings when you get to the course so you aren't in the dark about you situation.

The game is played on what is a course, of which I previously said. It consists of 9 or 18 holes. Each hole is the target of your ball and you want to get your ball there in the fewest shots as possible. Each time you hit the golf ball this is called a ""Stroke.""

Teeing Ground

When you get on the course with your clubs, you start on the first hole at a place called the Tee. Officially it is called the ""Teeing Ground,"" but you are trying to fit in and everyone just uses the shortended version of it. This is the beginning of each hole. It is where you hit the golf ball off a short wooden or plastic peg for a better first shot.

Fairway

The fairway is generally where a player would want to hit on to from their tee shot. If the ball goes off the point of where you wanted it, it could land in a place called the ""Rough,"" which is basically grass that is much higher than that of the fairway. It is much harder to hit out of which is why you would aim for the fairway.

Hazard

Other than the Rough, there are much worse things on a golf course that can cause trouble to the score you are aiming at. These golf course hazards include water hazards like lakes, and rivers. If you hot your ball in to one of those, you will get charged a one stroke penalty. A different hazard is called a bunker or a sand trap. A bunker or a sand trap is exactly what it sounds like. It is a big whole of sand that traps the ball and makes it harder to hit out of. You would generally want to just hit the ball and try not to hit the sand at all. Other hazards include trees, denser vegetation, and bushes.

Putting Green

After getting through the most part of the hole, you come to the nearest part near the actual hole called the ""Putting Green."" The Putting Green will have the shortest grass on the course and consist of an area where you line up your ball with the hole. But that isn't as easy as it sounds. Each Putting Green is unique with small hills and slopes that can change the direction your ball goes. This is why you must study the hole a bit before attempting to put the all in. Your club, called a putter, will be different from the other clubs. It is a flat faced club which makes the ball roll along the ground towards the hole until the ball comes to rest in the cup.

Scoring

When you play a hole, you want to have your strokes under a certain level depending on the length of the hole. Having an even amount of stoke with out going over is called ""Par"".

History of Golf

Author: Jonathon Blocker

There are many types of enjoyable exercise, but one that comes to the top of the list is the game of golf . There are golf courses in nearly every community in the United States and beyond, and all offer tee times that are available when you make golf course reservations. How golf got its start is a fascinating topic that all golfers want to know more about, and the game has a history rich in culture and lore.

There is much lively discussion over the origins of the game of golf. Many different cultures have laid claims to being the first one to have invented the game. For instance, an eleventh century Chinese book talks about a game that sounds like golf. In the Netherlands' city of Loenen aan de Vecht the game was said to be mentioned as having been played in 1297. Some scholars believe that the Vikings invented the game of golf in the middle of the thirteenth century. Scotland has long been believed to be the location where golfing was invented as well. Golf was played at the famous Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and this led to a law being put in place by King James the Second in 1457. The king's soldiers were spending too much time playing the game and not practicing their archery, so he outlawed the game at St. Andrews. Early accounts of the game are also seen in depictions inside England's Gloucester Cathedral dating back to 1340.

The word ""golf"" is based on the Dutch word ""kolf,"" which refers to a ""bat, club or stick,"" and thus may lend credence to the idea that golf began in the Netherlands. Apparently there was a game where you place an object in a hole in the ice, and this was called ""ice kolf,"" which might be seen as how the land-based form of the game started. More recently, a German scholar has found early depictions of the game of ""Kolven,"" which was a game about putting a ball into a hole, and this supposedly helps to set the sport's origins in the Netherlands.

A couple of the oldest golf courses are St. Andrews and the Old Links at Musselburgh, both in Scotland. It is believed that Mary, Queen of Scots, played golf at Musselburgh in 1567. The Old Links had only seven holes originally, but eventually it grew to nine. St. Andrews started out with eleven holes that were played twice, for a total of twenty-two. In time, some of the links were shortened and combined, so that it played out at eighteen holes.

This ancient game can still be enjoyed worldwide today, and its history simply adds to its popularity.

A Golf Tip To Help With The Chip Shot

Author: Stan Thomas

When looking to improve your golf swing in the area of chipping, it is best to think of it as an extension of your putting stroke.

When you are roughly six yards from the green and conditions allow for a low shot trajectory with a short ball flight and a good amount of roll, use your chip shot.

You want your chip shots to be similar to your putting shot as much as possible. Grip the club as you would the putter, and your stroke should be that same pendulous motion as when putting.

As you will be putting the ball in flight for a short distance, there are differences between the two shots, however.

When chipping use and iron, but adjust it by raising it on its toe (the furthest tip on the clubface), making the club more upright like a putter. This will allow for the straight back and pendulous motion of the putting stroke.

Grip the club down until it is similar to the length of your putter. Your shoulders should control the motion of your stroke: no wrist movement and very little movement of your lower body.

Your stance should be more narrow than usual, thus allowing for very little weight transfer. Remember, this stroke is as refined as the putting stroke. Any transfer of weight will be counter-productive to what you're trying to accomplish.

Open your stance slightly and drop your left foot back of the line of your target line. This will ensure your lower body stays properly planted. This will also encourage your weight to stay anchored on your left side, where you want it while chipping.

You'll want the golf ball positioned on the inside of your right foot (if you are right handed). You'll want to angle the club toward the target so that your hands are directly opposite your left thigh.

This will produce an angle of descent in your swing motion that will naturally give the golf ball some air underneath it. Have your shoulders square to the line of your target. This controls the path your stroke will follow. Make absolutely certain you do not use your wrists while executing this stroke.

Chipping isn't a glamorous part of playing golf. But when you get proficient at it, it will cut strokes off your golf score. Don't forget if you want to improve your golf swing in this area, it takes practice; another area that isn't so glamorous, but that's a topic for another day.---

Finding Golf Instructions

Author: Frederick Palmer

Like any sports, golf entails some fundamental instructions on rules, method, customs, and equipment. These golf instructions, aside from practices, are important in order to become an expert golfer.

Hence, in the United States, any golfer can gain the same knowledge that most professional golfers have obtained by enrolling in golf schools or training centers that are duly licensed by the U.S. Golf Teacherís Federation or the Professional Golfers Association.

For those who would like to know more about golf instructions, here is a list of some facts that they can use in gaining more information about golf and golf instructions:

1. Golf Instructions started in the ìmedieval era"".

As early as the 1350's, golf instructions had already dominated the society. Back then, golfers were already incorporating the basic concept of golf instructions by letting each group of golfers to strike the next unbroken shot.

2. Expensive state of golf instructions

Before the gutta percha ball was created, golf instructions were very costly then. It was even considered as a very expensive set of abilities wherein only a few people from Edinburgh could play the game.

3. ìShow-and-tellî type of golf instruction

It was in 1848 when the ìshow-and-tellî type of golf instructions was first introduced. It was also during this year that the ìguttieî ball was invented.

Because of these, golf eventually became an affordable sport. It also became an easy export item wherein golf was gradually introduced to the rest of the world.

4. First golf instructional book

It was in 1857 that the first golf instructional book was published. The book, entitled ìA Keen Handî, written by H.B. Farnie was all about golf instructions on techniques and strategies in playing golf.

5. The important part of golf instructions

In golf instructions, the most essential things that a golfer must learn are alignment, proper posture, golf swing, and grip. These things are the primary concern of the golf instructions because these are vital to every golf playerís shot in the game.

6. Golf instructions and shots

Through golf instructions, every golfer wannabe is able to learn the different traditional shots like fairway shots, chipping, approaches, putting, sand-shots, and driving.

For higher level of golf instructions, players are taught with methods that are more intricate like controlling the loft, trouble shots, and controlling the shape of the shot.

Indeed, there are no better ways to learn golf than through golf instructions. Everythingís already included and taught in golf instructions.

Every golfer must first learn the things they have to do before they play the game. The problem with most players is that they tend to think that since golf is not a very strenuous sport like basketball, they donít have to do some warm up exercises.

This should not be the case because golfers need to warm up and stretch those muscles before they start making double bogeys.

2. Swinging is a perfect exercise

In golf, the most pressured and the most exerted part of the body are the hands. Hence, it is important to exercise them before playing the game.

Swinging can effectively pull out any stressed or rigid muscle in the hand. Itís best to keep on practicing swinging. Experts say that almost 50% of a golferís ability is based on swinging.

3. Consider the size of the club

In order to play the best golf game, it is important for a player to choose the right golf club that he or she will use. The first to consider when choosing a golf club is its length. The length should be proportionate and suitable to the player so that he or she will be comfortable when playing.

4. Familiarize the six parts of golf swings

In order to play best in golf, it is important for a player to familiarize himself or herself on the six parts of the golf swing technique. The six parts of the swing are the proper alignment of the golf club; proper setup of the golferís posture and position; back swing; ìtake-awayî; impact; and the ìfollow-throughî.

5. Know the course

A good golfer should know his or her terrain. Hence, it is important for a golfer to note the so-called ìtrouble areasî. This is where some imminent problems are present like a sloping part of the fairway or hanging branch of a tree.

These are just some of the basic tips that one could use in playing golf. However, the most important thing a golfer should remember is to keep his or her body healthy before the competition. Itís where they generate their power for that beautiful back swing.

How To Find The Golf Shoe That Is Right For You

Author: Frederick Palmer

It all depends on your feet. Basically, golf shoe or not, shoes must be comfortable to wear and should fit good. Also, the shoes should fit your budget as well as your lifestyle.

Out with the old

Old golf shoes have those spikes that are made out of metal. These types of foot wear are no longer allowed on the golf greens. Throw them out and get a new pair of great golf shoes. Current makers of golf shoes use spikes that are soft and made of plastic.

Brand it or not

The brand is not as important compared to fit, comfort and style. You may have the shoes that Tiger Woods wears but that does not mean you will play like him if you wear the brand of shoes he wears. Be realistic. If you prefer the slip-on golf shoes rather than the ones that you have to tie, go and get those. It is your opinion and preference that counts more than anything else. Listen to what your feet are telling you.

Why are they on sale?

Golf shoes are different and unique. Though you could simply settle for any shoe that fits or any shoe that looks good because they fit your budget, this should not be the only consideration. Take this as an example, a golfer once bought a pair of golf shoes simply because they were on sale. Lo and behold when the golfer tried it on the actual greens, he found out that it was a pain to the feet and very difficult to keep on as well as to tie.

So please do not forget to try it out first. Your feet would know better and then let your wallet speak after your feet have decided on the shoes. Walk around the store with the shoes you are intent to purchase. Make sure though that you also try on other pairs.

Know your real golf self

However, if you do not play golf very much, it is best that you purchase the kind of shoes that just as well do not cost as much. But if you are a devoted golfer, shoes that are waterproof is the best option. These shoes are good for walking as well as sloshing along the greens. But if you are a golfer that is not so serious in playing and you enjoy the walking over the hills, around trees and tees more than playing or putting, then going waterproof may not be an option for you.

Tips on How to Lower your Golf Score

Author: Frederick Palmer

There is a way to lower your golf score, and the most efficient and quick way to do so is by putting. Although there are those golfers who put the blame on the putter thus the reason for their bad putt, it also helps if the grip of the putter is on a surface that is flat.

Shaft Length

It is advisable for the shaft to be at the appropriate length for the golfer to have a posture that allows the arms to hang down straight from the shoulders to ease the swing of the arm.

The head of the putter should as much as possible be heavy especially if the golfer plays on slow-greens. But if the golfer plays on fast-greens, the putter should be light.

Grip it good

When engaging in an actual play, the putter should be gripped in a way that is comfortable to the golfer. The thumbs must be on a surface of the putter grip that is flat.

The face of the putter should be perpendicular to the line of the target. You would be able to know if the putter is correctly aimed if you look at the direction of the ball from behind. You can try this exercise: on your ball, make a distinguishing mark. Then, pick up the ball and replace the ball. Point the writing you made on the ball towards the line of the target.

After which, place the head of the putter behind the golf ball and put the head of the putter in a direction perpendicular to the mark put on the ball. By doing so, you were able to aim the face of the putter towards the line of the target.

Wasnít it easy? Now you can stand in a relaxed manner as you direct your eyes over the golf ball. Your shoulders should be in a position that is parallel to the line of the target. Notice that if your shoulders are correctly aimed, it is sure that the golf ball is on the correct path.

Distance and direction

A good golf putter must be able to have a sense of direction as well as distance.

If you have a sense of direction, chances are you will have a great putting set-up. As much as possible, try to use the method of the Triangle. This method makes use of your shoulders and both your right and left arms. These three parts must work together as a single component especially when the putter is moved back and moved forth with a pressure grip that is light. Doing so enables you a chance to sense the correct distance.

Buying Golf Equipment - Top Tips

Author: Frederick Palmer

Getting the right equipment to play the game of golf is not that difficult. All it takes is for the person to look at the right place and getting value for oneís money. One can check the local directory or ask someone for directions on how to get there. Here are some tips buying golf gear:

1. Before one starts buying, it is best to first check if that person has the budget for it. There are many brands available and this is sometimes the determining factor which will make a person do well in the green or not.

2. How often will the person use it is another factor. It doesnít take that much to maintain golf equipment since all a person needs is a roller brush or a small towel. If the person is just starting out in golf, the brand does not matter but it will later on as the person decides to invest more in the sport.

3. Most golf shops sell brand new and second hand equipment. If that person can't afford a new set, it is advisable to first start with a used one then save up for a brand new one later on.

4. Some people canít tell the difference how one brand is better than another. If that person has that problem, one should ask the sales person for help since that individual is more familiar with what is there available in the shop.

5. Buying golf equipment can be challenging. By looking in more than one store, a person can probably get a good deal or find an item that is cheaper in one store than the one down the street.

6. Golf specialty stores are just one place where one can get good merchandise. The other is via the internet. There area many websites that also specialize in selling brand new and second hand equipment. One can order it online and have it delivered to one's doorstep. Another way of doing, which may not carry a whole line of things for golf, are auction sites where a person can bid on a certain item and if one is the winning bidder, one will also be able to get it in a few days.

7. Some experts who have played the game for quite some time prefer to sell the old equipment to someone which saves money in paying for a new one. If the person asks around, there is a chance that individual will be lucky to get it at a good price which is a far better deal then getting it from any golf shop.

Pointers for a Good Choice of Golf School

Author: Frederick Palmer

According to GOLF Magazine, the Phil Ritson - Mel Sole Golf School is included among the top five good ñ if not best ñ golf schools in the United States. Every year since 1999, this school appears and is included among the ten best golf academies.

The Basis of the Rankings

These were according to a variety of reasons which includes the teaching quality of the golf professors, the school program and facilities, as well as the hundreds if not thousands of golf graduates that were surveyed and asked to rate the experiences they had from attending the school.

According to this particular school, they help students achieve his or her personal best, always.

Teaching Principle

The teaching principle in this golf school was formulated by Phil Ritson - he used to be a coach to Gary Player as well as other stars in the PGA ñ and Mel Sole, who is a veteran of the PGA Tour in South Africa.

Good golf schools such as this cater to a host of golfers in different levels of skill, knowledge and expertise. They should also be open to anyone from the golf beginner and the advanced. Also, a low student to teacher ratio is best so that ample time and attention is given to teaching and learning golf without it being too expensive and unaffordable.

Visual Aids

The selection of the good golf schools as according to GOLF Magazine depended also on the various aids used in teaching the game. However, though computer generated golf swing models are used to illustrate a good golf swing, up to video analysis software that consists of four cameras to capture that perfect or imperfect shot with hopes of further improving on it, and acres upon acres of land range all help in making it conducive to study golf. Still, nothing beats a schoolís quality teaching instructions and curriculum.

Instructor's Credentials

The golf instructorís teaching credentials is one of the basis in the selection of good golf schools. How many years have they been teaching? How many of these teachers actually are professionals that are included in the PGA, are Class A or belong to LPGA?

In GOLF Magazineís selection, price was not included. They considered this factor as very little in the overall golf school selection since they consider that the primary reason for attending a golf school is for one to better his or her game, regardless of the price it would take for anyone to do so.

Golf is a game that one can learn easily if one has enough determination and can invest in the right equipment. Simple Instruction For Hitting Your Golf Driver

Author: Mike Pedersen

Simple instruction is the key to hitting your golf driver. Every golfer wants to hit the long ball...but very few every do. Why? Because they ""over-analyze"" their swing and get ""locked-up"" when the get on the tee box.

How many times have you yearned to hit it longer...swung harder...and it didn't happen? Every golfer on the planet can say this. I know I've done it more times than I can count! Swinging harder isn't the answer! In fact...it's death to your dreams of longer drives.

Golfers are so infatuated with the LONG ball. So much that they will spend $500 on a new driver in hopes for more yards off the tee. The problem with this approach is the cause of your lack of distance. It's not your club, it's how you swing the club that's the problem!

Getting the proper instruction for your driver is critical to achieving your goals of more yards. There is so much junk, bad tips, and advice out there...you can be deluged with these inadequate thoughts, resulting in driving distances below your norm. Not what you want if you want more yards!

You need help from someone whose been there. Not the Harmons, Leadbetter's and the Rick Smith's of the world, but average golfers who have found a method that works! A method that can add up to 30 yards to your drives with minimal effort or change in your golf swing.

This type of instruction is out there, but finding it might be another issue. The Net is polluted with hundreds, if not thousands of websites, pages and articles that won't help. I don't mean to get you feeling like you can't find help, but you need some resources you can turn to you trust. And that will get you the results you're looking for.

You need simple instruction for hitting your golf driver! Nothing too complicated or confusing. No ""62-point"" checklist or redoing of your golf swing. If an instructor tells you that...run!

As an amatuer golfer, we don't have the time nor the money to be our absolute best. We all want to be, but it's not realistic. We don't do this for a living! I think a lot of the time we do it for the challenge to beat our previous score; hit our drives longer than before; make fewer putts in a round; or maybe just for the enjoyment of getting outside, away from the hassles and responsibilities of life for 4 and a half hours.

Either way, hitting your golf driver longer than you have before is a lot of fun! With a little bit of research, you'll find the instruction to hit those long golf drives!

Life at the Golf Course

Author: David Stargel

Have you ever thought you would like to live at the golf course? What would life really be like on the 14th hole?

Residential golf communities are an increasingly popular option for homeowners, as families search for peaceful communities to live in. Even the pricey yearly homeowner's fees don't dissuade people from buying into, what the developers are calling, not just a lifestyle but a way of life.

Golf communities have been compared by some to Mayberry-like neighborhoods, where neighbors know each other, and parents feel good about letting their children play in the street with other kids. In fact, these communities are drawing lots of young families with children. And now younger families are able to afford a golf course home.

A home in a golfing community has become much more affordable in recent years. Although million dollar homes are certainly still available for purchase, so are homes that start in the mid $400,000's or town homes that are half that cost.

But all good things come at a price so don't expect a home with individuality and character for that price.

Cookie cutter houses are what you get at almost all residential golf communities with maybe two or three plans to choose from.

At the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, NC you can choose one of the plans to have built and then can add a few customized features to make your house feel less standard. However, the wooded lots and spacious floor plans go a long way in making your home feel less average and more individual.

An unusual trend that golf communities are seeing is that plenty of homeowners in these areas don't even own a single golf training aid!

In fact, some residential golf community managers estimate that as many as 65% of their residents don't play the game much less invest in golf equipment. This just serves to prove that you don't have to love the game to love the lifestyle.

There are many more things that make these kinds of communities attractive. Homeowners love that property values in these types of communities are steadily rising all over the country.

Having someone else manicuring your backyard is also a plus. And the camaraderie of living around likeminded people can be a comfort.

Living on a golf course is definitely expensive, even with the less expensive home models. If you choose to live in this type of community you have to view it as an investment, but for a growing number of people -it's worth it.

Golf Instruction Recommendations

Author: Michael Davis

Are your golf skills up to par? If not, golf instruction can help improve your swing, and your status on the links.

With the exception of those natural born Sultans of Swat, every golfer can benefit from golf instruction. Consulting with a professional golf pro can diagnose your hooks target the weaknesses in your swing. Proper golf instruction also provides secret tricks of the game and simple mind tricks to help you better focus before and after every shot on the course.

All of the best amateur golfers on the circuit take golf instruction from the pros. You can bet that all pro golfers also received golf instruction along the way to the top. Natural born athletes like the Michael Schmidts and Michael Jordans of the world turn to pros from time to time, to point out faults like hitches in the back swing, or how they tend to look up in their short game. Even professional golfers seek out golf instruction from the gurus of the game when they're in a slump or losing distance on their drives.

In other words, don't feel ashamed if you think you need golf lessons. That's why clubs keep golf pros on staff. If there wasn't a need for golf pros, these talented individuals wouldn't be professionally trained and PGA certified. Reaching this degree of certification is no easy feat. It takes years of hard work, study and intense training to be certified by the PGA. The pros are there to give golf instruction and to plan club tournaments, run the pro shop and interact with club members. Even after they earn their stripes, golf pros keep ahead of the game by attending seminars and workshops to brush up on new training techniques.

The very pros that provide golf instruction took lessons from the pros before them. In the beginning of the 20th century, serious golfers from Scotland and England traveled to America for professional training. The PGA was established at that time, to teach Americans to play and spread the gospel of golf. Several decades later, golf is taught and played worldwide. Early golfers from the United Kingdom created some stiff competition.

Golf instruction can help your technique and bring your game up to par. Who knows, with a few lessons you could be on you're way to becoming the next PGA certified pro golfer.

Golf Grip Instruction - Stance and Ball Flight

Author: Bobby Eldridge

I'm going to talk with you about how to draw the golf ball, hook the golf ball, or fade or slice the golf ball on purpose. That way, the next time you go play, if you have a dogleg right or a dogleg left, or the wind's blowing from the left or wind's blowing from the right, you'll be able to curve the golf ball that will be beneficial towards you.

Let's say I'm going to play a hole that has a big dogleg to the left, and I think that I can get it out and around the corner. I'm going to give you a couple of ideas on how to draw the golf ball. After you go through your routine, make sure that you aim the golf ball further right than normal, than you're used to. The second thing is I'm going to give you some golf grip instruction. You should turn your grip a little bit to the right. This will encourage the face to curve over.

And lastly, make sure that you're aiming with your shoulders, knees and hips to the right. And if you'd like to and you feel comfortable, you can put the right foot back a little bit. This will encourage the golf club to swing a little bit more underneath you from the inside.

Now let me give you a little bit of information on how to make the golf ball fade. After you've gone through your routine and you've aimed down the left side of the fairway, another golf trip instruction is to make sure that before you draw the golf club back that you turn your grip to the left a little bit. And this will delay the face from closing opposite of the draw, and the face will return more open than it will square or closed. And then swing away and that will help the golf ball fade. Now let's spend a minute correcting a hook. If you've been struggling, really hooking a lot of your tee shots, all you have to do is check your grip. The golf grip instruction is to make sure that it's over to the left a little bit and that will encourage the face to stay open.

If you've been slicing the ball, make sure you turn your grip a little bit further to the right, and that will help the golf club close and bring the ball back to center instead of slicing so much. Try that the next time out and see how it works.

Golf Carts - Top Tips

Author: Frederick Palmer

When playing golf, it is quite difficult to carry a bag with the different clubs even with the company of a caddy. This is because the bag weighs a lot and of course, be it 18 or 36 holes, is a long walk. It is a good thing that there are golf carts to get from one hole to another which will save the person time and energy especially if one is playing for a lot of money in a golf tournament.

The first golf car was launched in 1962 and since then has made some modifications. The traditional golf car is a battery powered 2- seater that comes with a hood and has a small baggage compartment for the golf bag in the back.

If one is interested in getting one, here are a few things that a person must know;

1. Golf cars may not be as expensive as the real car but one still has to shell out some money to get a unit. Since such models are not usually sold in dealer lots like regular cars, one can check golf specialty stores that may have a unit on hand or can check these out online and the various models available, then purchase it and have it delivered in a few days.

Some people prefer to customize the golf car to make it stand out. After telling the dealer what kind of golf car the person wants, it can be made in a few days and delivered for the person to use and have fun with in the green.

2. Golf lovers donít have to buy a golf car if that person will not use it often. If the individual just plays during weekends, one can just rent one from the club when one decides to play golf.

3. Some people feel better owning a golf car. If that person canít afford a new one, then one should just settle for a used golf car.

Golf Bag Buying Tips

Author: Frederick Palmer

A golf bag is an essential equipment that one uses to transport all golf accessories such as golf balls, golf clubs, markers, tees and even umbrellas and towels.

Golf bags have no influence whatsoever on the result of the game, however, they can greatly affect the players game by way of offering comfort as the player makes his round through the course.

As to how much load in your gear you are carrying and if you are carrying the bag by yourself or using a golf cart or the help of a caddie, can help you decide which bag is for you. When planning on riding the golf cart on your rounds, then whether the bag is heavy or not does not matter. But if your plan is to walk, then a lighter bag that will be carried along easily is essential.

Types of golf bags:

1. Staff bags. These are the largest types of golf bags. They can accommodate a complete fourteen set of golf clubs and typically have many side pockets for other golf tools and equipment that one wishes to take along. Almost all professional golfers prefer the staff bags as they can hold a lot of equipment and since their caddy carries the bag for them, weight is never a problem.

A good staff bag is one made of quality leather or materials that are of high quality and are expensive. 2. Cart Bags. Are a lot smaller in size compared to staff bags, but are comparatively bulky and unmanageable for the golfer alone, without the caddyís help. These bags are constructed for use on golf carts; they have lesser pockets and storage capacity.

3. Carry Bags. The smallest type, and are basically made from plastic, nylon and other materials. As these bags are constructed to accommodate the essentials such as the golf clubs, a few small golf accessories and balls they are the right choice for the golfer who favors to carry his own bag.

Choosing the right bag for you

1. Take into account the price and your budget. How much you can afford can determine what kind of bag as well as what materials they are made of; the more expensive it is, the more complex the features of the bag. Keep in mind however, that the bag is not used directly in your game; golf shoes, clubs and balls are more significant than the bag.

2. Features. Know what type of features you need in your bag and what equipment you need to put in the bag. You might consider a bag that can stand alone to make it easier to take out your golf clubs during your game. You might also consider bringing an umbrella along, so you need a bag with a slot for your umbrella. However, if you are the type to carry only the basic gears, then you might want to consider a simple and light bag that can accommodate just the basics.

How To Eliminate The Slice From Your Golf Game!

Author: Dean Caporella

Not much has changed in the game of golf during the last 30 years as far as the basic golf swing is concerned. Early on, the golf slice was dominating my game and was one area I really wanted to improve. I ran across an old training video produced in the 1960's recently and the same advice beginners are receiving today was being dished out then!

It was the same video I was given to watch and yes, the advice virtually helped me eliminate the golf slice from my game. You see, the basic golf swing is a simple procedure which doesn't need to be re-invented. It's stood the test of time and will continue to do so. Let's try and eliminate the golf slice from your game!

Basic Golf Swing Etiquette

The stance and the golf club grip are the two important elements in correcting the golf slice. Get one or both of these wrong and you'll be forever searching for your ball in the bushes or even having to venture onto the adjacent green to play your next shot.

The Stance

It's pretty simple but it's an area beginners have trouble getting right. There's no magic formula to achieving a proper stance. In practice, make a mental picture of your target and where you want the ball to land. Your shoulders should be in alignment with your target.

Footwork is crucial but it's simple. For right handers, the right foot points straight ahead and the left foot is deviated slightly to the left. For left handers, it's left foot straight ahead and right foot slightly to the right. It doesn't get any easier than that.

The Swing And Grip

Grip the club too tightly and you'll more than likely hook the ball. Grip it too loosely and you'll slice it. You need to find a happy medium between the two. This is where the practice range is handy.

The club grip is important but many golfers seem to want to improvise thinking they've got it right. As mentioned before, not a lot has changed in basic golf swing technique so don't try and re-invent the wheel. The club grip is simply gripping the club with your left hand and placing the thumb along the shaft while placing your right hand over your left with the left thumb nestled in the palm of your right hand. The reverse applies for left handers. That's it!

It's a good idea to go through the club grip with a mentor; perhaps an experienced golfer at your local club or even a playing partner. Ask them to watch you go through the motions and point out any deviation from the correct process. Golf is a game of getting into good habits and once you do, you'll be amazed at how natural the process is.

Practice Makes Perfect

Practice the stance and grip until it feels natural. Combining it with the basic golf swing will complete the process. Continued practice will help you lower your score. The amazing aspect about golf during the learning phase is how quickly you can get your score down in the initial stages simply by applying the correct swing, stance and grip techniques.

The Powerful Golf Swing. How to get it fast.

Author: Eugene Benade

How do you build a powerful golf swing? When you watch those big strong golf pro's swing that golf club so effortlessly but still reach those tremendous distances you cant help to wonder how they achieve this, it looks so simple and easy. You start to think there must be some kind of secret that only the golf pro's know about and they wont tell anyone else how to build a powerful golf swing.

I am sure you have experienced that feeling when you're out on the golf course that you just cant get any distance, your golf swing just don't feel comfortable, and the harder you try to hit that ball the more disastrous the outcome. You just don't have a powerful golf swing.

Off to the practice range and you find out that hitting four hundred balls only helped a slight bit if any, and on the golf course the next week you can see little improvement. So what do I need to do? You need club control and that will come automatically if you have a powerful golf swing.

The golf instructor at my local golf club gave me a tip for building a powerful golf swing. Practice your golf swing holding the club only in your left hand if you're a right handed player and vice versa if you are left handed. It helped a tremendous amount. I could see and feel the difference out on the course the first time

So I took it a step further and taped a piece of lead weighing about one pound just above the club head of my five iron. And started practicing swinging the club just like a normal golf swing, with the correct posture, grip, full back swing and full follow through but holding the club only in my left hand. Only for about twenty minutes a day.

A very simple drill but I could not believe the results I got. Now it feels like I am only pulling the club through the ball and it flies a mile. At last a powerful golf swing! For more very useful tips go to POWERFUL GOLF SWING
